CHALLENGE COMPLETED IN 50 DAYS
Round Britain By Bike 2025
Sponsored bike ride for the Rare Dementia Support Centre

Currently 7% of people aged over 60 are likely to develop some form of dementia –
approximately 940,000 people in the UK today …. it’s a problem.
As I am living with Young Onset Alzheimer’s Disease, I thought ‘can I do something to help?’
Cycling 4,200 miles to raise funds for the Rare Dementia Support Centre gives me an incentive; each day there will be a purpose: focused on what I can do, not on what I can’t.”
Bernard Bunting
I am a 67-year-old husband, father, former soldier and founder of a family business, and I live with Young Onset Alzheimer’s Disease – diagnosed in 2022.
On 18 May 2025, I departed from Putney Bridge in London on 4,200-mile bike ride round the coast of Britain in aid of The National Brain Appeal, a charity which is raising funds for the world’s first Rare Dementia Support Centre for people who have been diagnosed with dementia and their families.
The centre will open in early 2026 in Woburn Square, London.

I leave from Putney Bridge, London on May 18th 2025.
All expenses are paid for myself, with overnight stays pre arranged along the way through B&B’s, friends and contacts that are on route.
You can donate through my Just Giving page here
I will follow roads close to the coast of England, Wales and Scotland, over a distance of 4,257 miles, climbing hills with a combined total elevation of 57,000 meters – that’s about the same as climbing Everest, from sea level, 8 times in the course of the journey.
I am raising money for the world’s first Rare Dementia Support Centre opening in
Woburn Square London in 2026.
With the solid training everyday riding on average 150 Km per day my preparation
has been strong. With the weather being on my side, the ride should take a total of
50-55 days (including 4-5 rest/maintenance days)
